afrol.com, 16 October - The Provincial Minister of Education, Ms Faith Gasa, allegedly has left her office based on the suspicions of witchcraft. According to a release from the African National Congress (ANC), the party, condemning her action, doubts if the Minister is suitable for this position because of her alleged premature actions.

Ms Gasa holds a very key position on issues of culture in our provincial administration, the ANC states. It will be therefore unbecoming of her to display superstitious tendencies which are baseless.

Students at all levels of education are either preparing or have already begun to write their final examination. It is therefore shocking and amazing to hear that the minister responsible had allegedly deserted her duties during this crucial time because she suspects that she is being bewitched, the ANC states.

It is alleged that Gasa called her departmental employees as 'reptiles that are not loyal to her and that she will kick them out of her office.

- Gasa should remember that all workers, including those from her office, are protected by the labour relations' act, the ANC statement goes on. "Thus when ever she has a problem with her support staff she will have to follow proper labour relations procedures."

The ANC reports that it will call on the provincial government, and Premier in particular, not to pay Gasa if the allegations that she has been away from work for more than three weeks are true.
