Gunmen raid South Africa court

afrol News, 14 April - Armed robbers raided a High Court in South Africa's commercial capital Johannesburg and stole several case files of high-profile organised crimes from the office of a senior state prosecutor.

The armed men, who reportedly disguised themselves as policemen, overpowered guards at the court and tied them up before forcing their way into the office of a prosecutor's office.

The stolen documents include a file relating to one of South Africa's biggest bank robberies in which more than US $6 million was stolen from the First National Bank few years ago.

South African police have since opened investigations into the crime that took place on Sunday night. And according to the National Prosecution Authority, no arrests have been made.

State prosecuors were confident that the robbery would not prevent the cases from being heard by the courts.
