60 injured after Moroccan-Sahrawi clashes in Dakhla

afrol News, 23 July - At least 60 people are reported to be injured and two missing during clashes between hundreds of Moroccans and Saharawis engaged in fishing in Itereft town, 100 kilometers from the city of Dakhla, the chairman of the Committee Against Torture in Dakhla, El Mami Amar Salem said.

More funds for Cape Verde's rural poor

afrol News, 27 June - Cape Verde Island's poverty eradication drive has been boost by the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development's (IFAD) pumping of US $4.2 million to the West African country's rural poor communities, bringing the agency's total supplementary loan funding for the programme to US $13.5 million.

Western Sahara-bound fishing vessel hijacked

afrol News, 12 June - Activists from the environmental group Greenpeace have hijacked a fishing vessel in the Swedish port of Gothenburg, which was to fish off Western Sahara. The Cook Island-registered vessel is accused of "piracy", environmental destruction and violating Swedish embargo on fishing off the occupied territory.
