Mobile phone connections to exceed 5 billion

afrol News, 16 February - The global demand for mobile telephones remains strong, despite the economic crisis, with the number of individual mobile cellular subscriptions likely to top 5 billion this year, the head of the United Nations telecoms agency has said.

MTN receives $18 million for network upgrade

afrol News, 1 December - Africa’s leading mobile phone network, MTN has signed a deal to the tune of US$18 million with six local banks to revamp its entire network in Rwanda after rival operator Millicom International Cellular launched its mobile operation in the country in mid November.
