Campaign against plundering of W/Sahara resources launched

afrol News, 9 November - The pro-Saharawi network, Western Sahara Resource Watch (WSRW) has launched a campaign to sign letters to the EU Commissioner for Fisheries, asking EU to immediately stop the plundering of the natural resources of Western Sahara by Morocco.

Treaty to eliminate illegal fishing penned

afrol News, 1 September - The final text of a new treaty that aims to close fishing ports to vessels involved in illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing has been agreed upon by a group of 91 countries during talks brokered by FAO, the UN agency announced today.

Kenyan fisherman arrested in disputed Migingo island

afrol News, 7 April - The Ugandan forces have detained nine Kenyan fisherman on Monday from the disputed Migingo Island, a Kenyan official has confirmed. The arrest comes despite a joint statement by President Mwai Kibaki and President Yoweri Museveni signed between the two countries in March to resolve the Island row.
