afrol News, 19 August - The police component of the joint African Union-United Nations peacekeeping operation in Darfur has established a special investigations unit to monitor and report on crimes involving sexual and gender-based violence, a prevalent problem in the western Sudanese region.

Ban calls for tough measures against sexual violence

afrol News, 28 July - The systematic use of sexual violence as a weapon, mainly against women, is rife in armed conflicts in Africa, Asia and Europe, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon warned today in his latest report on the scourge, calling for states to strengthen prevention and protection measures against the crime.

Regional action plan to combat human trafficking adopted
