Africa Women's worst world-wide
afrol News, 8 March - A ranking released today, on Women's Day, reveals that among the top-ten worst countries for women, seven are African. Female genital mutilation, sexual and violence, lack of education, HIV risks and traditional discrimination are women's worst enemies in Africa.

Sierra Leone UN partners media to fight sexual violence in S/Leone
afrol News, 15 February - With not a single conviction resulting from the thousands of sexual violence cases reported last year in Sierra Leone, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is hoping the media can be a power ally in spotlighting how these offences go unpunished in the West African nation.

Eritrea 30 Christian women arrested in Eritrea
afrol News, 11 December - The Eritrean authorities have arrested and detained 30 elderly Christian women during a prayer meeting. The women are reportedly held without charge by the district office of the federal security service.

afrol News, 28 July - The systematic use of sexual violence as a weapon, mainly against women, is rife in armed conflicts in Africa, Asia and Europe, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon warned today in his latest report on the scourge, calling for states to strengthen prevention and protection measures against the crime.
