The Mangroves
an undervalued ecosystem

In West Africa, nearly 90 percent of the original moist forest is gone, and what remains is heavily fragmented and degraded. afrol News - The International Monetary foundation (IMF) in September 1999 assessed Cameroon's economic and financial performance to have "a good record of performance under the first annual ESAF program continued under the second, despite the adverse impact of a sharp deterioration in the terms of trade in the first half of 1998/99. Almost all quantitative and structural performance criteria and benchmarks for the year were met. Real GDP growth for 1998/99 was revised downward from 5 1/4% to 4½ %, and the annual average national consumer price inflation was contained at 2.9 %."
