afrol News, 3 June - The democratic parties opposing Mauritania's coupist government have gained a milestone victory in the Dakar negotiations about a return to democracy. The presidential elections are to be postponed to 18 July, with the democratic parties participating, and a unity government will now be formed.

Politics Mediators push for later elections in Mauritania
afrol News, 2 June - A panel of mediators in Dakar have proposed Mauritania's presidential elections slated for 6 June to be postponed to 18 July. The talks which opened in Senegal last week seek to find the common ground for the ruling junta that took power in August 2008 and parties opposing the coup.

Economy - Development | Technology Morocco invests in fiber optic line to Western Sahara
afrol News, 22 May - Maroc Telecom has secured a US$ 1.3 billion investment programme, mostly financed by the Moroccan government. The programme will see major improvement and modernisation of Morocco's fixed-line and mobile networks, but also a new fiber optic cable to France and through Western Sahara into Mauritania.
