Italy to enhance security cooperation

afrol News, 13 January - Italy's Foreign Minister Franco Frattini has said Rome would back police and army training for Mauritania to help fight the threat of al-Qaeda. The pledge for support comes barely a week after al Qaeda linked group in the country claimed the kidnapping of two Italian nationals.

afrol News, 10 November - The United States African Development Foundation (USADF), in conjunction with the United States Embassy in Mauritania, hosted a ceremony to launch nearly $850,000 in development assistance to grassroots groups in Mauritania. Representatives from each group receiving USADF funds were in attendance.

Mauritania gets $12 million to boost food production and lower imports

afrol News, 5 October - Mauritania has received a US$6 million loan and a US$6 million grant from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to help develop the value chains of agricultural products and lower the country’s dependence on food imports. An additional $2 million will be provided as grant co-financing from Italian supplementary funds to IFAD.
