New diarrhoea kills 4 Ethiopians

afrol News, 23 April - Ethiopian officials have been battling with a new outbreak of diarrhoea. So far, four people reportedly succumb to the infection.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that the deaths.

The UN body also said 551 diarrhoea cases have been reported in Ethiopia, with the towns of Bale, Borena, Gedeo and southern parts of the country having more cases.

It is reported that the outbreaks have extended to the Amhara, Korahe and Liben regions that border with Somalia.

OCHA officials say in the absence of clean and safe water supply in most areas residents rely on river water to drink, which may have led to the new outbreak.

Ethiopian Health Ministry officials they are not only monitoring the outbreaks from causing more deaths, but they are also on the verge of countering it.
