Tunisians protest against price hike

afrol News, 11 April - Tunisians have joined other African countries to launch protest against the soaring cost of living and unemployment. Protests are not common in the North African country, irrespective of its huge middle class citizens.

For the past three days, there has been clashes between the police and protesters in the phosphate-rich Gasfa region's town of Redeyef.

The United Nations has warned against reaction towards shortage of food production and soaring prices in the world, including some African countries, including Senegal, Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

More than 20 protesters have been arrested by the police. The police freed 12 and press charges of \"public disorder and wilful damage to property" against 8 others.
